Comments:

Nfs1 is the eukaryal ortholog of bacterial IscS. This sulfur donor protein contains a pyridoxal phosphate cofactor and is involved in the formation of s2U at position 34 of anticodon in both cytoplasmic and mitochondrial tRNAs. In mitochondria, it forms a strong complex with Lsd11p. In the cytoplasm, the subsequent sulphur cascade relay system is very different from the one in mitochondria (see Urm1, Uba4 and Tum1).
