Comments:

Mrm2 catalyzes the methylation of 2’-O-ribose of the invariant U2791 (U2552 in E. coli numbering) in the so-called A-loop (hairpin 92) of peptidyl-transferase center (domain V) of 21S mitochondrial rRNA. AdoMet is the methyl donor group. The homologous enzyme in E. coli is RlmE catalyzing formation of Um2552. Notice, equivalent Um2921 in S. cerevisiae cytoplasmic rRNA is catalyzed by C/D RNP machinery (Nop1), using SnR52 as guide-RNA.
