Modomics - A Database of RNA Modifications

Full name: Ribosomal RNA large subunit methyltransferase A
Synonym: RrmA, YebH
GI: 549542
Orf: b1822
COG: COG2226
UniProt: P36999
Structures: | 1P91 |
Complex:
Enzyme type: methyltransferase
Position of modification - modification: l:745(745) - m1G

Comments:

RlmAI is found only in gram negative bacteria. The enzyme is dimeric and catalyzes the formation of m1G at position 745, in the loop of helix 35 of domain II of the large subunit rRNA. It has a zinc domain and binds two molecules of AdoMet. RlmAI is the ortholog of RlmAII that is found only in certain gram positive bacteria (like Steptococcus).
