It is speculated how URM1could contribute as a sulfur donor for the thiolation of tRNAGln UUG , tRNAGlu UUC , and tRNALys UUU allowing for the catalysis of tRNA adenylation, an intermediate that is required for 2-thiolation. Deletion of URM1 causes an increased mobility of tRNAGln UUG , tRNAGlu UUC , tRNALys UUU thus indicating the pivotal role of CTU1 in the 2-thiolation of the wobble positions of these three tRNAs (Schlieker et al. 2008 ).
