DIMT-1 is the methyltransferase required for N6-dimethylation of adenosines 1735 and 1736 on the 18S rRNA. Together with Bud23 (m7G s:1531) those modifications are involved in the inheritance of non-genetic information by altering ribosome heterogeneity rather than through eliciting a general defect in ribosome biogenesis.
